On 2 October 2003 Mr. Hamadoun Toure, Director of Telecommunication Development Bureau ITU visited AzEuroTel company.
He became acquainted with JV departments, visited Exchange 492/497/437, Subscriber Department, Centre of information technologies and data transmission.
A meeting with the management and leading specialists of AzEuroTel JV was held in the conference hall.
As stated Mr. Toure, he was pleasantly surprised at the level of used equipment and service quality.
"The fact that AzEuroTel operates equipment of world-known companies-manufacturers of telecommunication equipment such as Marconi Communications, Cisco Systems, Lucent Technologies and others, once more demonstrates that Azerbaijan has companies providing high-level services", emphasized Mr. Toure.
General Director Nuri Akhmedov informed about their activity, difficulties they face, emphasizing on how they overcome them thanks to a united and highly skilled team of the company.
During discussions the subjects about intercalculation procedure between operators, tariffs have been broached.
Mr. Toure told that in most countries over the world, particularly in developing ones, a tendency to create independent regulatory bodies is obviously felt, due to what activity of the telecommunication market increases, monopoly in communication administrations in these countries weakens, and in the long run population of these countries gain that afford to choose companies providing various communication services.
Director of TDB thanked the company management for their active participation in all ITU events such as seminars, conferences, exhibitions and indicated that he expects to meet AzEuroTel team again in the forthcoming exhibition in Geneva on 12-18 October 2003.
